Meet Penny!
A spirited five-and-a-half-year-old Coonhound/American Pitbull Terrier mix from Cincinnati, OH, whose tricolor coat reflects her vibrant and dynamic personality. Penny is a playful, goofy companion who never fails to make her people smile with her exaggerated movements and endearing “dog hug” headbutts! She’s happiest when she’s by your side, whether it’s on a sniff-filled walk or snuggled up on the couch.
Penny is a big fan of tug-of-war and enjoys running free, but she needs a fenced yard as her adventurous spirit might lead her to roam. While she’s playful and full of energy, Penny also has a sweet, cuddly side, making her a wonderful blend of active and affectionate. She’s highly food-motivated and knows several commands, including sit, down, and spin. Though she’s always up for learning more (especially if treats are involved)!
It’s important to share that Penny has had incidents with other dogs in the past, including one involving food guarding and another unprovoked altercation with a dog she had previously known. Because of this history, Penny will need a home where she can be the only pet, and her new family should be understanding and experienced in managing a dog with these sensitivities. Penny thrives in a structured, predictable environment with positive reinforcement to help her feel safe and confident.
Penny is crate-trained and house-trained, but she can experience anxiety in certain situations, such as thunderstorms, vet visits, or the presence of other animals. She’s also nervous around children, so she’ll do best in a home without young kids. Despite these challenges, Penny’s loyal and goofy nature shines through—she’s the kind of dog who will look into your eyes as if you’re her whole world!
Penny comes spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She does require allergy medication but is otherwise in good health. If you’re a patient and loving pet parent looking for a loyal companion, Penny might be the perfect match for your family!
To make sure that Penny has a great start with her new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation.
