Meet Brandy!
A sweet and snuggly eight-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Bridgeport, CT, who’s ready to be the star of her very own home. With her stunning fawn-colored coat and soulful eyes, Brandy is a loyal companion who thrives when she’s the center of your world. Weighing about 60 pounds, she strikes a lovely balance between playful energy and calm cuddles, perfect for someone looking for both affection and activity.
Brandy’s favorite things include belly rubs, rope toys, and soaking up the sun outside. She’s deeply affectionate and often rests her head on your lap just to feel close. She knows several commands such as “sit,” “high-five,” “come here,” and “get in your bed,” and she continues to make great progress with consistent training and positive reinforcement.
Brandy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and fully house-trained. She’s currently working with a professional trainer, and the difference is already showing. She now walks calmly on a leash using her training collar, responds well to guidance, and has even joined a friend on walks without barking or lunging. Recently, Brandy calmly encountered a Cane Corso during a walk and remained relaxed and curious rather than reactive, another encouraging sign of the progress she continues to make through training and positive experiences! Her trainer recommends more socialization and regular outings, and Brandy is rising to the challenge with grace and continued improvement.
While Brandy hasn’t done well living with other dogs in the past and prefers not to share her home with them, this simply reflects her desire for a peaceful, predictable environment where she can feel secure. One bright spot has been her wonderful adjustment to a newly adopted cat in her current home. Despite the change in her household, Brandy welcomed her new feline companion with ease, and the two get along very well. She has done well around cats and would thrive in a home with adults who understand her breed and are committed to helping her continue to grow. A fenced yard would be the icing on the cake for this sun-loving girl.
