Meet Arlo!
A spirited two-year-old American Pitbull Terrier from Hilliard, FL, whose heart is as big as his 75-pound frame. With his buff tan coat and charming white accents, Arlo is a showstopper, but it’s his personality that truly steals the spotlight! He’s a loving, silly, and devoted companion who thrives on being by his favorite person’s side—whether that means adventuring on a hiking trail, cruising in the car, or simply snuggling up on the couch.
Arlo is the ultimate sidekick! Whatever you're doing, he wants in! He’s a curious, enthusiastic explorer who finds joy in everything from chasing his favorite flirt pole to "helping" with household tasks (his definition of helping might just be moral support, but it’s adorable nonetheless). He’s energetic and playful, yet when the day winds down, he transforms into a professional cuddle bug, happiest when curled up right next to you.
This smart boy has had formal training and knows a variety of commands—sit, down, stay, wait, leave it, drop it (he might negotiate for a trade on that one), and come. He’s also crate trained, house-trained, and non-destructive when left alone. Arlo thrives on routine and loves his cozy crate, especially when it comes with his favorite peanut butter-stuffed Kong.
While Arlo has many wonderful qualities, he does need a home where he’s the only pet. He is extremely dog-reactive, especially on a leash, and has been involved in fights with another dog in his home. He also has resource-guarding tendencies, which means he does best in a structured environment with clear boundaries. He is not compatible with cats or other animals. His caregivers have worked extensively with trainers and a behaviorist, who recommend that he be the only animal in the home. When it comes to people, Arlo is affectionate and eager to bond, though his excitement sometimes gets the best of him. He’d do well with someone patient, understanding, and ready to make him their world.
