Meet Duke!
A steadfast two-year-old Great Pyrenees from Marshall, NC, whose presence brings both peaceful companionship and a serious sense of security wrapped in a cloud of white fluff. Towering at 115 pounds of majestic muscle and loyalty, Duke isn’t just a big dog—he’s a quiet sentinel who takes his guarding duties to heart!
Duke’s heart beats for the great outdoors. Whether he’s keeping a watchful eye over a yard, dozing in the shade while you garden, or pacing the perimeter under moonlight, this gentle giant shines brightest when he has a purpose. Nighttime is his favorite shift—rain or snow, Duke is on patrol! His deep bark might echo through the night, but it’s his way of saying, “All’s well—Duke’s on the job.” And if you’ve ever worried about nighttime critters or unexpected visitors, well, you’ll sleep a lot easier with this guy on the team.
While he’s all business when it comes to protection, Duke still craves connection. He’s not one to demand belly rubs or chase tennis balls, but he loves being near his people. A quiet companion while you tinker in the garage or sit on the porch, he’s content just knowing you’re around. And don’t be surprised if this otherwise regal pup suddenly bursts into joyful zoomies—imagine a fluffy white horse racing across your yard in a burst of pure glee!
Duke hasn’t had formal training, and he’s got a strong, independent spirit. He’d do best with a dog-savvy caregiver who understands large guardian breeds and appreciates a dog who thinks for himself. He’s done well around chickens and is neutral with cats and most other dogs, but due to some conflict with a much smaller dog in his current environment, a home without small dogs would be best.
Duke needs a family with space to roam, a job to do, and a guardian who enjoys quiet companionship as much as he does. Could your land use a loyal protector—and could your days use a noble, snowy shadow by your side?
