Meet Odie!
A charming eleven-and-a-half-year-old Rat Terrier mix from Silver Spring, MD, whose fawn-colored coat and soulful eyes are just the beginning of his heart-stealing ways.
This small but spunky gentleman may be entering his golden years, but don’t let that fool you—Odie still has the zest of a pup when it comes to playtime! Tug-of-war, fetch with squeaky toys, or sniffing every leaf on his walk—Odie is all in! He’s also a connoisseur of car rides and has a particular fondness for morning cuddles, especially when the chill sets in. There’s something about early sunbeams, a warm blanket, and a snuggly Odie that just makes everything feel right in the world.
Odie thrives in the company of others—he’s the kind of pup who believes that every stranger is just a friend he hasn’t nuzzled yet. Kids? He loves them! Other dogs? He’s cool with those too! Cats? He hasn’t made up his mind, so a feline-free home is likely the best match. What Odie truly needs, though, is a caregiver who is home often or can provide regular companionship—this little guy experiences separation anxiety and is currently on medication to help him manage it. With enough exercise and mental stimulation (dog puzzles and treat hunts are favorites), he’s peaceful and content. Without it, well... expect some passionate barking concerts.
He's house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Odie knows a few commands like sit, down, and shake, and he's working on perfecting his “stay.” He’s not destructive when his physical and emotional cups are full—so a fenced yard or regular outings are musts to keep his tail wagging and his heart calm.
Above all, Odie is a tenderhearted shadow dog who longs to be close to his person. He’s loyal, affectionate, and hilariously stubborn in the most endearing ways. Could your days use a little more sunshine and squeaky-toy joy?
