A dazzling seven-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently living in Chapel Hill, NC, whose silver beige coat with tan and white accents shines as brightly as her loving heart. Weighing in at a sturdy 75 pounds, Kanoa is the perfect combination of gentle giant and joyful goofball. Her favorite pastime? Being your shadow! She’s never far from her person, always eager for affection and ready to “talk” when she wants your attention—yes, she has a delightful habit of vocalizing when she’s got something to say!
Kanoa is a fetching queen—literally! Toss a ball or a squeaky toy and you’ll instantly be her favorite human. She’s also got a keen eye for squirrel-spotting and will chase them with the enthusiasm of a pup half her age. With formal training under her belt, she confidently responds to commands like sit, stay, and roll over, and her calm demeanor when left alone shows her steady, well-adjusted nature.
While Kanoa has a heart big enough for a whole family, she needs to be the only dog in the home. She’s shown she can be affectionate and gentle with people of all ages—including young children—and has even demonstrated thoughtful restraint in potentially tense situations. However, she has a history of serious conflict with other female dogs and was assessed by a behaviorist who affirmed that she may never be reliably dog-friendly. Kanoa is currently thriving with a dog-walking service who absolutely adores her, especially her sweet nature and strong communication style.
Kanoa would flourish in a home with a fenced-in yard where she can explore, sunbathe, and burn off energy through games of fetch. She's house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations—ready to step right into a caring environment with an experienced pet parent who understands her need for a dog-free space.
