Meet Bear!
A spirited three-and-a-half-year-old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier currently living in Provo, UT, whose essence is a mix of boundless energy and tender affection wrapped in a soft, beige coat. With the heart of a puppy and the soul of a loyal companion, Bear is a complex, lovable boy who thrives on structure, playtime, and deep connection with his people.
Bear weighs in at 32 pounds of pure personality—equal parts snuggler, goofball, and park enthusiast! Tug-of-war is his all-time favorite game, closely followed by wrestling and zooming joyfully through open spaces. He’s also food-motivated and enjoys learning with treats—he already knows “sit,” “shake,” “lay down,” “touch,” and “come” (well… most of the time). Underneath his bouncy exterior lies a sensitive pup who deeply needs predictability and patience in his day-to-day life.
Bear also has a sensitive side that needs thoughtful care. He experiences high anxiety, especially around departures and unfamiliar visitors. This has led to some challenging behaviors: Bear has had two incidents of dog-directed aggression and one fear-based bite toward a family member. These moments were rooted in fear and uncertainty, and Bear is currently working on building trust and confidence. He needs a guardian who is dog-savvy and familiar with behavior management, especially with reactive or anxious dogs.
Bear’s environment plays a big role in his comfort—he does best with a predictable routine, clear boundaries, and positive reinforcement. A home without other pets and with a securely fenced yard would give him the space and peace he needs to thrive. He may bark or jump when visitors arrive, and sometimes gets so excited he might have a little accident, but at his core, Bear is a deeply affectionate pup who will gaze into your eyes with pure love and offer the gentlest of kisses.
We’re also including a month of professional behavioral support to help Bear settle into his next chapter with ease and reassurance.
If you’re a dog-savvy caregiver ready to continue Bear’s journey with compassion, consistency, and training, he’s ready to meet you! Could you be the structured, loving guide Bear needs to grow into his best self?
