Meet Ludy!
A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog currently living in Asheville, NC, whose loyal heart, gentle playfulness, and just-right dash of Heeler sass make her an unforgettable companion. Wrapped in her striking blue coat and weighing in at a healthy 44 pounds, Ludy is on the mellower side for her breed, still ready for games of frisbee and Chuck-It fetch, but not a whirlwind of nonstop motion. She’s the kind of friend who will happily match her pace to yours, whether that means an energetic hike or a quiet evening curled up together.
True to her herding heritage, Ludy forms deep, Velcro-like bonds with her people. Once she decides you’re hers, she’ll be by your side through everything! Whether you’re cooking breakfast, heading out for a walk, or just relaxing on the couch. Meeting new people off-leash, she’s all joy, offering warm greetings and affectionate snuggles. On-leash, however, her protective instincts surface, and she may give a bark or a harmless nip in the air to let someone know they’re approaching too quickly. With other dogs, she’s a bit selective. She’s had great play sessions with some, while others she prefers to keep at a polite distance.
Ludy’s intelligence shines through in her quick learning. She knows sit, stay, and shake, and she’s crate-trained with good off-leash manners. Her recall is solid, though she occasionally follows her nose a bit longer than called. Like many Cattle Dogs, she thrives when her mind is engaged and her body is active whether that’s chasing a frisbee, romping across open fields, or learning new tricks.
While Ludy hasn’t lived with cats or small children, she may have a prey drive, so a home without them or with careful introductions would be best. She’s perfectly suited for a caring, active pet parent experienced with herding breeds. Someone who can offer her room to roam, structured activities, and perhaps a compatible canine playmate.
Ludy is ready to bring her loyalty, intelligence, and snuggle-loving spirit into a new chapter of life. To learn more about adopting Ludy, please contact [email protected]!
