Meet Prancer!
A bright and affectionate five-year-old Cockapoo currently living in Nashua, NH, whose sweet nature shines like the white accents on his silky black coat. Weighing in at a petite 19 pounds, Prancer is a small dog with a heart full of love and a personality that blossoms in the right environment. One with room to play, sniff, and feel secure.
At home or in leash-free spaces like fenced yards and daycare, Prancer is a total charmer! He’s playful, intelligent, and eager to engage, especially when a ball toss or a treat puzzle is involved. He thrives on enrichment activities that challenge his mind, and he's happiest when he gets to show off his skills like “sit,” “stay,” “paw,” and “easy.” With a keen nose and a soft spot for hide-and-seek treat games, Prancer is equal parts brainy and goofy!
In structured environments like grooming and daycare, he shines with his calm demeanor and polite manners. He’s crate trained, fully house-trained, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. Plus, he’s neutered and well-groomed every six weeks during the summer, which keeps him looking and feeling his best.
But Prancer does have a sensitive side. On-leash, especially around unfamiliar dogs or people, he becomes highly reactive. He has had one altercation in the past after escaping the home and confronting another dog, which makes it especially important that his next home is secure, quiet, and structured. Despite this, Prancer has never shown guarding behavior around food or toys and has no bite history with people.
His ideal family will understand that his reactivity isn't who he is, it’s just one part of his journey. With patience, positive reinforcement, and a stable, leash-free home environment, he can continue building confidence at his own pace. Due to past experiences and his specific needs, Prancer should be the only pet in an adult-only home. He’s truly a gentle soul who simply needs the right setting to flourish!
