Meet Misty!
A smart, affectionate, and energetic almost six-year-old Blueticked Coonhound currently living in Aurora, IL, whose heart is as loyal as her striking blue-speckled coat is unique.
Misty is what her guardian lovingly calls a “Velcro hound, where you go, she wants to follow! Whether it’s lounging on the couch, going for a walk, or hopping in the car (she will try to race you there!), Misty is all about being close to her people. She thrives on human connection, tummy scratches, and trying to fit her 75-pound frame into your lap for cuddle time. Her energy is contagious, her affection endless, and her silliness? Utterly delightful!
While Misty has had behavioral challenges in the past, she’s come through them beautifully thanks to professional training, a more tailored diet, and a consistent routine. Today, she’s crate trained, housebroken, leash trained, and knows commands like sit, heel, come, and place. Structure and patience have brought out the best in her, and now she’s a confident, well-mannered girl ready for her next big adventure!
Misty is fully recovered from a past CCL surgery and moves with the energy of a pup half her age. She enjoys outings to dog parks and pet-friendly cafés, sturdy squeaky toys, and a good tug-of-war with a rope toy. She's compatible with larger dogs and teens, but due to her strong prey drive, she’s not suitable for homes with cats or small animals.
Her ideal match? An active caregiver. Perhaps someone who works from home, is semi-retired, or simply has the time to offer plenty of attention and companionship. Misty truly shines when she feels like part of the daily rhythm. A consistent walking routine, engaging activities, and a calm, structured environment will help her continue to flourish.
Misty isn’t just a dog; she’s a loyal companion ready to fill someone’s life with joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love. Are you the one with space in your heart and time in your day to make Misty part of your family?
