Meet Hank, affectionately known as Wrinkle Daddy!
A loyal and snuggly eight-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier currently living in Durham, NC, whose big fawn-colored frame holds an even bigger heart for humans.
Hank is the ultimate blend of couch potato and outdoor enthusiast! While he enjoys his daily walks and the occasional hike (especially if there's a scenic sniff spot involved), his true happy place is curled up next to someone under a cozy blanket. Yep, this 70-pound gentleman will politely ask to join you under the covers, he’s got a PhD in snuggling and isn't afraid to use it!
Thanks to professional board-and-train experience, Hank knows his basics like “sit,” “down,” “place,” and “leave it,” and he’s especially tuned in when treats are involved. He’s crate-trained, house-trained, and has no trouble staying calm when left alone for short periods. Hank responds well to calming chews and joint supplements that support his comfort as he ages.
Because Hank’s heart is big, he sometimes struggles with sharing it. Over time, he has displayed escalating aggression toward other animals in the house. This has included lunging, attempts to attack, and unfortunately, a serious incident where he bit the family cat. While he’s affectionate with people, including showing protective interest in his guardian’s infant, he is not compatible with other dogs or cats.
While he's affectionate and people-oriented, always ready to be your shadow, Hank’s next chapter needs to be in a calm, pet-free, and child-free home with someone experienced in working with dogs who benefit from structure, consistency, and a steady routine.
This wrinkly-faced lovebug is incredibly people-friendly and enjoys meeting new folks, but he needs a caregiver who understands the value of consistency, boundaries, and positive reinforcement. He would be a wonderful companion for someone experienced with large breeds, especially a person seeking a devoted buddy who gives just as much love as he receives.
Hank’s current caregivers are heartbroken to rehome him, but they know he needs a simpler setting to thrive. They’re open to long-distance placements and even foster-to-adopt arrangements to help Hank find his perfect match.
