Meet Johnny Cash!
A spirited three-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/Husky mix currently in Los Angeles, CA, whose essence is a thrilling blend of wild adventure and devoted affection, all wrapped in a striking brindle coat with charming white accents.
Cash is a powerhouse of energy and joy, perfect for someone who craves the open trail, a daily runner’s high, or the quiet satisfaction of a long mountain hike. With his strong, athletic build and endless stamina, he's happiest logging 8 to 9 miles beside his human. He’s not just a running buddy, he’s the kind who’ll carry his favorite chew bone to greet you at the door and then snuggle up close when the day is done.
At home, Cash is a big-hearted cuddlebug! He adores cozy time with his human family, especially the younger crew, he’s gentle and affectionate with his guardian’s nephews, ages 10 and 13. His play style is impressively adaptable: he loves a good rough-and-tumble with a young Ridgeback, but can switch gears to match the gentler vibe of his senior Staffordshire Terrier pal. That said, Cash has shown a preference for his canine companions and can be selective, he gets along well with some dogs but has made it clear he's not a fan of Frenchies.
Cash is house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and obedience-trained. He knows sit, down, heel, go to place, and more! He thrives on structure and routine and is content being alone for up to six hours. Due to a sensitive stomach, he’s on a hydrolyzed protein and dehydrated diet, which has worked wonders for his digestion.
Now, Cash isn’t the right match for every household, his high prey drive is strong and non-negotiable. Shortly after being adopted at five months old, Cash severely injured the family cat. While the cat made a full recovery, the incident required veterinary care, and during the chaos, family members were bitten while attempting to separate the animals. He continues to show intense prey drive toward small animals, and he cannot live with cats or be trusted off leash under any circumstances. He pulls toward squirrels and small dogs on walks and must remain securely leashed at all times outdoors. He needs a guardian who understands and can confidently manage this behavior.
Despite these challenges, Cash has a loving heart and a joyful spirit. Could you be the experienced, active pet parent Cash needs to thrive? Email [email protected] and take the first step toward adventure and a whole lot of love!
