Meet Star!
A spirited four-and-a-half-year-old Hound/American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Columbia, MO, whose essence is a high-octane blend of love, loyalty, and outdoor adventure, all wrapped in a sleek black and brown coat.
Star is the kind of dog who lights up when she’s with her people. Affectionate to her core, she thrives on belly rubs, face-to-face chats (yes, she’ll “talk” back with happy little grumbles), and being the center of attention! Whether she's trotting beside you on a morning jog or digging like a backyard archaeologist in pursuit of mysterious scents, Star lives for action and connection. She’s been a loving companion to children as young as eight, making her a fantastic match for an active family ready to include her in the fun!
This 57-pound bundle of energy needs a pet parent who shares her love for the great outdoors, ideally with a fenced yard for zoomies and some space for digging (her personal passion project). Walks, runs, and backyard play are must-haves in Star’s daily routine, and she absolutely thrives when there’s structure and time spent together.
Now, full disclosure: Star isn’t exactly a fan of other dogs, especially when food or space is involved. She has shown reactivity, especially in the car, but she peacefully coexists with a senior dog in her current home, suggesting she might be open to sharing her space with a calm, respectful canine friend. Small animals, however, are a hard no, Star has a high prey drive and is not safe around them.
Medically, Star was born with a malformed hip joint and has a history of Ehrlichiosis. Despite the X-rays, she remains pain-free and mobile, thanks to joint supplements and the occasional carprofen as needed, not daily. She's spayed, house-trained, and up to date on vaccinations.
