A smart and affectionate almost eight-year-old Labrador Retriever mix currently in Portland, OR, whose golden fawn coat is just as warm and comforting as her snuggles.
Nala is a true heart dog, a deeply intuitive companion who mirrors your energy and mood. Up for a hike? She’s lacing up her metaphorical boots! Ready for a Netflix-and-snuggle night? She’s already curled up on the couch, ball by her side! At 65 pounds, this sturdy girl is a perfect blend of playfulness and soulful connection. Her favorite pastime? Chasing her beloved ball and settling in beside you when it’s time to relax. Bonus perk: Nala is an excellent road-trip companion! She rides beautifully in the car, doesn’t get motion sickness, and is happy as can be along for the adventure.
Highly intelligent and eager to please, Nala knows a long list of commands and thrives on structure and routine. She's crate trained, has medium energy, and makes a fantastic shadow for someone who enjoys steady companionship. She experiences separation anxiety, but once she understands your rhythm and schedule, she settles beautifully, no destruction, just a little longing for your return.
Nala is currently taking daily medication, not because of any general anxiety, but to help her cope with the stress of living in a multi-pet household. In quieter moments, she’s peaceful and sweet. But over time, tensions have built between her and the other resident dog, leading to escalating resource guarding and altercations. Though she’s not reactive on walks and has shared space and even food with a calm, elderly male dog, Nala has made it clear she needs to be the only pet in her home where she can truly relax and feel secure. She also takes Trazodone as needed for high-stress events, like fireworks.
Nala is looking for a new loving home where she can be the center of attention. Your loyal shadow, hiking buddy, snuggle champion, and ball-chasing queen! A home with adults or older children would be the best fit, where her boundaries can be respected.
