Domino

Meet Domino!

A soulful twelve-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently in Asheville, NC, whose essence is a calming presence wrapped in a handsome black-and-white coat.

Domino has fully embraced the art of enjoying life’s simple pleasures. These days, he happily trades youthful excitement for leisurely morning walks, peaceful car rides, sunny spots on the floor, and quality time spent near the people he loves! He is the kind of companion who does not need constant entertainment. If you are working from home, he will settle nearby for a cozy nap. If you are heading out for an errand, he would be delighted to ride along and keep you company.

Domino is often described as an old soul. He has a remarkable ability to notice when something has changed and offers a steady, comforting presence during both good days and challenging ones. His favorite activities include easy walks, accompanying his people on outings, and snoozing close to the action. He is house-trained, non-destructive, microchipped, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and wonderfully polite around the home.

This sweet boy is also friendly with other dogs and would do well with an easygoing canine companion. Cats may be compatible, though additional introductions would be needed. Domino knows commands such as sit, stay, and down, though he admits he is a little rusty these days.

Like many senior dogs, Domino requires some simple daily care. He receives inexpensive medications to manage arthritis and a digestive condition, while a heart murmur is monitored without medication. His hearing is fading, which means he is more likely to snooze through the doorbell than announce visitors.

Domino would thrive in a calm, low-stress home with an experienced pet parent who appreciates the unique needs of a senior companion. While he is a gentle and affectionate dog in most situations, he has shown that living with toddlers is not comfortable for him. Over time, he has given several warning nips toward young children. A professional trainer familiar with Domino has evaluated these behaviors and believes they are communication signals rather than indications of a desire to injure. To help him feel secure and set him up for success, Domino must be placed in a home without toddlers or young children who visit regularly. He has done well around older children and may be suitable for families with respectful children approximately eight years of age and older who can understand and honor his boundaries. A medication stipend is available to the right family to help support his ongoing senior care needs.

Could your family be the one to share peaceful walks, sunny naps, and companionship with this gentle old soul?
