Meet Oliver, affectionately called Ollie!
A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix currently in Washington, D.C., whose essence is a vibrant burst of loyalty wrapped in a striking black coat with white accents.
Weighing about 65 pounds, Ollie is the kind of companion who wins hearts with his intelligence, independence, and unforgettable personality. He comes when called, walks beautifully on a leash, and knows an impressive collection of cues including sit, lay down, stay, spin, paw, go home, go to crate, and even roll over! Highly motivated by treats, especially peanut butter, he enjoys learning and thrives when given clear communication and positive reinforcement.
Ollie is wonderfully adaptable to daily life. Whether the day calls for a long hike, a leisurely stroll, or a peaceful afternoon nap, he is happy to settle into the rhythm of his family. He loves splashing through rivers and streams, chasing sticks, exploring the outdoors, and showing off his curious nature. One of his most endearing qualities is how closely he tunes into the emotions of the people around him. When excitement fills the air, Ollie is ready to join the fun, yet he is equally content relaxing in his favorite spot and enjoying his own space.
Like many thoughtful dogs, Ollie has specific needs that help him feel comfortable and secure. He requires a calm, structured environment and benefits from caregivers who can recognize his body language and respect his boundaries. He can become overstimulated around large groups, is protective of food and high-value items, and has a history of biting in certain situations. Because of this, he needs an experienced pet parent who understands behavior support, is comfortable managing resource guarding, and can continue setting him up for success. He also receives daily medication to help manage anxiety.
Ollie would thrive in a loving home without children and as the only dog, preferably with plenty of space to roam and explore. In return, he offers loyalty, adventure, intelligence, and companionship on his own unique terms.
Could you be the patient, understanding person who helps write Ollie’s next great adventure?
