Meet Berkley!
A spirited three-year-old German Shepherd/Hound mix currently in Youngsville, NC, whose essence is a joyful combination of playful energy, devoted companionship, and enormous ears wrapped in a silky black and tan coat.
At about 70 pounds, Berkley is a tall, handsome boy with a heart every bit as big as those unforgettable ears he never quite grew into! His warm smile is equally charming, especially when he is proudly carrying a favorite tennis ball after another successful round of play.
Berkley loves toys of all kinds and happily shares the fun! Toss a ball, start a friendly game of tug-of-war, or head outside for some playtime, and he is ready to join in. He enjoys running around, taking car rides, exploring on calm walks, and settling in afterward for some well-earned snuggles. Whether the day calls for adventure or couch time, Berkley simply loves being with his people!
This playful boy is house-trained and crate trained, comes when called, and knows “sit.” He does well relaxing in his crate when left alone for short periods. Berkley is friendly with other dogs and comfortable and gentle with children of all ages, although older children who enjoy his energetic playfulness may especially appreciate his enthusiastic style.
On leash, Berkley can become reactive when he encounters excitable dogs, and busy environments with lots of stimulation can sometimes feel overwhelming. He would benefit from continued leash training, patient behavior support, and positive reinforcement to help him build confidence and focus. A fenced yard would give him a wonderful space for exercise and play while he continues learning his leash manners.
Berkley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. With his goofy ears, toy-sharing generosity, adventurous spirit, and constant-companion personality, he has plenty of happiness to bring to a new loving home!
