Meet Daisy and Ziggy!
Daisy a spirited three-year-old, and Ziggy, an affectionate almost seven-year-old, are a bonded pair of Old English Sheepdogs currently in Boulder, CO, whose lives are woven together in a wonderfully fluffy tapestry of love, confidence, adventure, and companionship.
At 48 pounds, Daisy is the smaller athlete of this white-and-gray duo! She can run six to seven miles, happily keep pace beside a bike, and still settle in afterward with her head held sweetly high, politely requesting pets. Daisy can be timid during new introductions, sometimes crouching low, hiding behind Ziggy, or excitedly dribbling when greeting favorite people. Patient training, encouragement, and positive reinforcement have helped her confidence tremendously. Calm, confident guidance helps this sensitive girl continue blossoming!
Ziggy, 95 pounds of lovable “papa bear” energy, is Daisy’s security blanket and devoted companion. He adores people, respectful children, soft toys, swimming, and trying to convince everyone that a 95-pound Sheepdog absolutely qualifies as a lap dog! He even enjoys strolling between people’s legs. Sirens inspire an occasional howl, adding a little canine commentary to the day.
Both dogs are house-trained, microchipped, altered, vaccinated, off-leash trained, and impressively knowledgeable about commands including sit, down, stay, wait, pillow, back, and this way. They are friendly with other dogs and can relax when left alone, although clever Daisy may investigate accessible snacks. Neither is compatible with cats.
Ziggy has a chicken-protein allergy and sensitive stomach, so he eats a fish-based diet and pure liver treats. His ears need thorough drying after his beloved swims, and he receives daily supplements for occasional achiness after strenuous outings. He also appreciates assistance getting into cars. Daisy has no medical concerns.
These two need to be adopted together by a family who understands the grooming commitment of Old English Sheepdogs and wants affectionate companions included in daily life. A spacious yard or wooded area would give athletic Daisy room to move, while Ziggy enjoys walks of up to about three miles and swimming. A quieter family with calm, respectful older children could suit them well.
