Meet Winnie!
A spirited almost seven-year-old Bichon Frise/West Highland White Terrier mix currently in Walnut Creek, CA, whose essence is a bundle of sweetness wrapped in a fluffy, mostly white coat.
At 14 pounds, Winnie is a small boy with a big enthusiasm for being close to his people! He is a constant companion who happily turns moments into adventures, whether he is heading out for a walk, hopping into the car for a ride, or settling in nearby at bedtime. His medium energy level pairs nicely with an active family, and three walks, morning, noon, and night, would help keep his paws moving and his mind engaged.
Playtime is one of Winnie’s specialties. Stuffed animals are favorites, but bring out a ball and he is ready for fetch! He also enjoys a game of tug-of-war, making him a fun companion for people who enjoy interactive play. Winnie knows “quiet,” “stay,” and “sit,” comes when called, and could continue building his skills through positive reinforcement.
Winnie is friendly with strangers and generally gets along well with cats. His experience with children and other dogs has been limited, so introductions will help everyone get acquainted comfortably. An active family, including children who understand respectful pet interaction and enjoy tossing a ball, could offer him plenty of joyful activity.
This sweet boy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and appears healthy. His grooming needs are fairly light, with attention to his mouth area and the inner corners of his eyes. Winnie is sensitive about facial grooming and may act as though he might bite when restrained for beard or eye-area trimming. A grooming service experienced with a face muzzle, along with veterinary guidance about calming support if needed, can make those sessions safer and more comfortable.
Winnie usually handles short periods alone well, though he occasionally needs a little encouragement when people leave. Most of all, he loves closeness, companionship, play, and being part of the action!
