Meet Diesel!
A spirited almost two-year-old German Shepherd/Boxer mix currently in San Bernardino, CA, whose big personality shines through his tan coat, dark muzzle, playful energy, and enthusiasm for making new friends.
At about 75 pounds, Diesel is a large, lively boy who approaches life like every day has something exciting waiting around the corner! He loves his red bone squeaky toy, happily plays tug of war, and is always ready for activity. He is silly, entertaining, loyal, and protective, with the kind of working-dog energy that can keep an active family smiling and moving.
Diesel is extremely friendly with people and has even dashed across the street to greet a neighbor when he slipped loose. His enthusiasm can also show up as jumping on unfamiliar people and occasional excited nipping, so he needs a confident, experienced pet parent who enjoys training and can channel that exuberance through positive reinforcement, structure, exercise, and engaging mental work. He knows “stay” and has plenty more to learn!
This clever digger has remodeled a sprinkler system and barbecue in his own creative style, so a secure fenced yard, with an appropriate place to dig, is important. His house-training habits have recently regressed, and he currently needs supervised trips outside and regular walks to help rebuild a reliable routine. He handles short periods alone well but finds longer stretches harder. Fireworks and other loud noises can make him uneasy.
Diesel has been friendly with other dogs, including a small dog and a neighbor’s Pitbull. His compatibility with children has not been assessed and a cat-free home would be best.
Diesel is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, with no known health concerns. He needs an active individual or family with working-breed experience who wants a dog to train, engage, and adventure alongside.
